Introduction ： Professor of School of Chemical and Molecular Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST). Dr. Zhang obtained his doctoral degree from ECUST in 2012 under the supervision of Prof. He Tian (major of Applied Chemistry). From 2010-2011 and 2017-2018, he joined the group of Prof. Itamar Willner in Hebrew University of Israel as an exchange doctoral student and post-doc. Dr./Prof. Zhang has been awarded National Excellent Young Scientist Fund (2021), Shanghai Rising-Star Program (2019) and Second Prize of Shanghai Natural Science Award (2025). The research interests of Dr./Prof. Zhang are based on photo-responsive dyes, mainly photoswitches and photo-cages. Recently, he has reached out his research into photo-related bio-medical applications, as photopharmacology, photo-responsive fluorescent sensors, photo-responsive dynamic hydrogel biomaterials (for medical applications and cell mechanics regulation). He serves as the youth editorial Board member of Chinese Chemical Letters, Fine Chemicals and Chinese Journal of Chemistry. He has published over 70 papers, including Nature Communications, J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Chem, CCS Chem etc, with a total citation over 5600 and h-index of 36. He is also the author and editor of the book “Photochromic dyes, Photochromic Materials: Preparation, Properties, and Application” (Wiley-VCH). Introduction ： Ziyuan Li obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2019 from East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), Shanghai, under the supervision of Prof. He Tian. From October 2017 to December 2018, he worked as a joint-culture Ph. D. student in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, with Prof. Itamar Willner. Dr. Li is now a post-doctor of the Institute of Fine Chemicals at ECUST under the supervision of Prof. He Tian. His research interests include hydrogels and their biomedical applications.
