Special issue information:
Understanding dynamic interfacial processes is crucial for advancing electrochemical technologies.
This Special Issue highlights in-situ and operando characterizations of electrode–electrolyte interfaces under realistic conditions.
We invite contributions using techniques such as various scanning probe microscopies (SECCM, EC-STM, EC-AFM), X-ray absorption, vibrational spectroscopy, and electron microscopy to elucidate surface reconstructions, ion adsorption, intermediates, and degradation pathways.
Studies on batteries, electrocatalysis, and energy storage or conversion are encouraged. Experimental and theoretical studies providing mechanistic insights or bridging spatial–temporal scales are eligible. By showcasing how in-situ methods reveal interfacial phenomena, we aim to inspire innovations in interface science and device optimization.
Research articles and short communications are welcome.
Manuscript submission information:
You are invited to submit your manuscript at any time before the submission deadline.
For any inquiries about the appropriateness of contribution topics, please contact Guest Editors.
The journal’s submission platform (Editorial Manager®) will be available for receiving submissions to this Special Issue from 1 January 2026.
Please refer to the Guide for Authors to prepare your manuscript and select the article type of "VSI: In-situ and operando characterizations" when submitting your manuscript online.
Both the Guide for Authors and the submission portal could be found on the Journal Homepage.
