Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry: An International Journal for Chemical Biology in Health and Disease publishes original research papers, short communications, and state-of-the-art reviews in all areas of the biomedical sciences, emphasizing novel findings relevant to the molecular and cellular basis of human disease. The aim of the journal is to publish papers that describe new insights and advances in basic molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, physiology, translational research, and also in clinical trials that illuminate to the basic mechanisms of disease. The scope of MCB is not restricted to bench or animal studies, but it includes also human studies because, in the ultimate analysis, the best model to study human disease is humans.

In addition to original basic research reports, the journal publishes:
State-of-the-art Reviews
Methodological papers that describe new enabling technologies
Translational studies that use preclinical models to evaluate new therapies or diagnostic methods as a step to eventually bring this knowledge to a first-in-human clinical trial
Clinical studies that elucidate the fundamental mechanisms of human disease. The journal does not publish clinical trials or studies of drug efficacy or clinical outcome, but rather studies that use human subjects to interrogate the molecular and cellular mechanisms of disease or studies that provide new information on the mechanism of action of therapies used in clinical practice.
