个人简介

Deirdre McCarthy received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from University College Cork, Ireland, in 2001. She began her research at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, in 2002. Under the direction of Dr. Pradeep Bhide she began working on developmental neuroscience, investigating the role of dopamine in the developing mouse brain. She joined the faculty of the Department of Biomedical Sciences in 2011 to continue her research investigating a role for dopamine in mediating the effects of prenatal cocaine exposure in the developing and mature brain. In collaboration with Dr. Bhide and others, she also investigates a role of torsinA in brain development (gene associated with Early Onset Torsion Dystonia).
