个人简介

Thomas Weber is part-time Professor Solid-State Inorganic Chemistry and Principal Scientist Catalyst Development at Shell Projects and Technology. He studied chemistry at the University of Bielefeld, Federal Republic of Germany, and obtained a Ph.D. from the same university in Inorganic Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Achim Müller in 1993. He subsequently did a two-years postdoc in surface science with Prof. J.W. (Hans) Niemantsverdriet at the Eindhoven University of Technology. After that he moved to Zurich for a Habilitation in technical chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis with Prof. Roel Prins at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and was appointed Privatdozent (Associate Professor) for Technical and Inorganic chemistry in 2002. In 1999 he spent a sabbatical at Northwestern University, Evanston (Prof. J.A. Ibers). Between 2002 and 2007 he acted as advisor Inorganic Chemistry of Catalyst Preparation for Akzo Nobel / Albemarle and as consultant computational catalysis for Shell. In 2008 he joined CRI/Criterion, the catalyst business of Shell Global Solutions, where he is in charge of oil refining catalyst R&D. He is member of several professional organizations and the chairman of the Dutch Catalysis Society.
