John teaches in the Engineering Safety and Risk Management program within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta, and is a member of the course and program development team. John joined the Faculty after retiring from Dow Chemical Canada, a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, a world-leader in the safe and reliable operation of petrochemical and plastics manufacturing plants. John’s extensive career includes a broad range of operations, engineering, and project management expertise in manufacturing, having worked in seven world-scale plants. His “forte” is the integrated application of engineering design/process safety, technology improvement, occupational safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance within manufacturing. John has received numerous Dow technology awards throughout his career. John received his M.B.A from Athabasca University (2007), and his Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto (1980).
