1985-1992 厦门水产学院任讲师； 1993-1996 任凯能高科技工程（上海）有限公司董事兼总经理； 1996-至今任三达膜科技（厦门）有限公司董事长； 1997-至今任厦门大学化工学院/材料科学与工程系教授； 2002-至今任新加坡三达集团董事局主席； 2004-至今任南昌大学教授、博士生导师； 2007-至今任北京大学教授、博士生导师。

膜分离科学与技术的研究、膜材料研究开发；环境工程，膜技术与水处理，科研成果工业化
