个人简介

I am Ran. I was born in Jinan City, Shandong Province, China. I have been interested in mathematics since I was a child. I like thinking, playing cards, playing Chinese chess and some puzzle games. In 2008, I was recommended to the mathematics pilot class of the school of Mathematical Sciences of Nankai University through the mathematics competition, and I got my bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 2012. From 2012 to 2017, I studied nonlinear optimization under the guidance of my supervisor, Professor Ya-xiang Yuan, and obtained Ph. D from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. During this time, I learned a lot, not only limited to optimization theory and methods, but also being a man and some interests. From 2017 to 2020, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics of Columbia University. Under the joint guidance of Professor Qiang Du and Professor Simon J. L. Billinge, I worked on the inverse problem of nanostructures and the analysis of pair distribution function. This is the first time I applied the optimization method to practice, and I also found that the communication between different disciplines is really interesting. Then I came to the School of Statistics and Data Science of Nankai University and became an assistant professor, working on numerical optimization.
