研究领域

Mark’s ’Microbial Life’ research group aims to understand the role, function and ecology of microorganisms within natural and man-made terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments and to develop and apply microbial biotechnology products and processes for the benefit of mankind and the environment. Recent and current research activities focus on: Aquatic and Microbial Biogeochemical Cycling (Benthic Nitrogen Cycling, Ocean Acidification and Bioturbation) Pollution Microbiology (Marine Plastics, Hydrocarbons and Heavy Metals) Agricultural Soil Microbiology (Soil Health and Plant Pathogens) Drinking Water Microbiology Polar Microbiology Antibiotic Resistance and Horizontal Gene transfer
