Drivers and challenges of applying green computing for sustainable agriculture: A case study

Green Computing aims to use of IT resources in an energy-efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally-friendly manner, through Greening the (use, disposal, design, and manufacturing) of computers and computer-related products which in turn effects the development of many sectors of a country. This research is a case study that discuss the drivers and challenges of green computing adoption for sustainable agriculture in Saudi Arabia. The researcher has developed a research framework by hybridization of two models that are: organizational green IT adoption (OGITA) Model and Integrated Model for adopting green practices which are proposed in the past. This research work identifies the drives and challenges of applying Green IT and enriches the understanding, adoption of Green IT in agriculture sector of Saudi Arabia. The research findings based on survey results acknowledges and confirm that there is an impact of drivers and challenges on applying Green IT for sustainable agriculture.
