Peng Yang Prof.
Introduction ： Peng YANG joined the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shaanxi Normal University in July 2012. He is currently the leader of the discipline of soft materials and high-performance polymer materials in the Key Laboratory of Applied Surface and Colloid Chemistry, and selected into "Ten thousand plan"-National high level talents special support plan.
Zhongli Lei Prof.
Introduction ： Professor, Doctoral Supervisor. Received a Ph.D. from Jilin University in July 2002. From March 2009 to April 2010, conducted postdoctoral research at Johns Hopkins University, focusing on the synthesis of biomedical polymer materials and their application in drug controlled release. Has long been engaged in research on the theory and application of ATRP (Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization). Conducted extensive studies on the synthesis of biomaterials via ATRP and the biofunctional surface modification of materials, achieving notable results. Systematically studied ATRP of various monomers and accumulated rich experience, advancing the application of controlled radical polymerization in polymer carrier materials. In addition, has made breakthrough achievements in the field of solar cell materials. In recent years, has undertaken several projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Xi'an Science and Technology Bureau, as well as multiple industry-academic collaborative projects.
Jian Zhao Associate Researcher
Introduction ： Dr. Jian Zhao received his Ph.D. in Materials Science in 2016 from the State Key Laboratory of Polymer Materials Engineering, Sichuan University. In 2017, he joined the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Shaanxi Normal University. His main research interests include:(1) Design and fabrication of protein-based high-efficiency materials for water treatment; (2) Design and development of functional protein-based fibers.He has published 20 research papers as first author and corresponding author in peer-reviewed journals such as Advanced Functional Materials, Small, Journal of Materials Chemistry A.
Hao Ren Associate Researcher
Introduction ： Dr. Hao Ren obtained his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 2018. From 2016 to 2017, he participated in a joint training program at the University of Montreal, Canada. In July 2018, he joined the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Shaanxi Normal University. His main research interests include: (1) supramolecular polymerization of proteins; (2) end-group effects of polymers; and (3) multi-responsive polymeric materials. Dr. Hao Ren has served as principal investigator for projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (General and Youth Programs), the Youth Fund of Shaanxi Province, and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (General Program). In 2023, he was selected for the "Outstanding Young Talent Support Program" of Shaanxi Universities. As first or corresponding author, Dr. Hao Ren has published 16 SCI papers in peer-reviewed journals including J. Am. Chem. Soc., Chem. Sci., Nat. Protoc., Macromolecules, ACS Appl. Nano Mater., and Polym. Chem., and holds three Chinese invention patents.
Jia Kong Assoc. Prof.
Introduction ： Dr. Jia Kong received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Tianjin University in 2020 and joined Shaanxi Normal University's College of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering in 2023. His current research focuses on elucidating protein structure-function relationships and developing bio-inspired peptide biomolecules for applications in bioimaging, disease diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions. He has authored/co-authored over 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals including Nature Communications, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, and Protein & Cell, and contributed to one academic textbook. He has been awarded research grants including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Youth Program), the 4th China Postdoctoral Special Funding (Pre-station), and a Key R&D Program of Shaanxi Province. Additionally, he has managed three institutional research projects supported by central university funds, international collaborations, and doctoral innovation programs. He is honored to be selected for the 2023 Hong Kong Scholars Program.
Yongchun Liu Associate Researcher
Introduction ： Ph.D. in 2017 from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University. In 2018, joined the Yang Peng Research Group at Shaanxi Normal University. Currently engaged in research on protein underwater adhesion, primarily focusing on protein aggregation through amyloid-like proteins to achieve the processing and functionalization of protein materials for applications in the biomedical field.
Shuwen Guo Assoc. Prof.
Introduction ： He obtained Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry at Nanjing University at 2018, and carried out postdoctoral research at Institute of Chinese Medical sciences in University of Macau. He joined the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shaanxi Normal University at 2022. His research focuses on amyloid-like aggregates of proteins and functional materials.
Fei Tao Associate Researcher
Introduction ： Graduated in 2018 with a Ph.D. in Polymer Science from Shaanxi Normal University under the supervision of Professor Peng Yang. Since 2018, joined the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Shaanxi Normal University as a postdoctoral researcher. In 2024, appointed as an Associate Researcher and Master's Supervisor.
Chengyu Fu Lecturer
Introduction ： Dr. Chengyu Fu joined the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shaanxi Normal University in July 2025, Shaanxi Xi'an. September 2019-June 2025, in Polymer Chemistry and Physics PhD Program (Supervisor: Dr. Peng Yang) Shaanxi Normal University, Shaanxi Xi'an. September 2014-June 2018, in Applied Chemistry (Supervisor: Dr. Pingsheng Liu) Nanjing Normal University, Jiangsu Nanjing. Dr. Chengyu Fu’s research focuses on developing bio-based functional coatings and protein materials through amyloid-like aggregation, with applications in intelligent antifouling surfaces, large-scale functional coating fabrication, and 3D protein printing that mimics natural biomineralization for bone repair.
