Welcome to the homepage of Professor Que Zeli's Timber Structure Studio, Department of Timber Structural Architecture, Nanjing Forestry University!

Professor Que Zeli's studio currently has 5 in-service research and teaching staff, including 2 overseas professors specially appointed by Nanjing Forestry University and 5 long-term part-time (cooperative) researchers. There are nearly 20 doctoral, master, and overseas students studying in the studio.

This studio focuses on the basic theory of the connection performance of timber structures, the application of wood-concrete structure systems, the design of fabricated timber structures based on BIM technology, the integration research of manufacturing and installation, advanced wood composite materials, high-performance composite wood materials, the different impact of climatic environment on the performance of timber structure connection joints, CLT joint connection design, earthquake-resistant timber structure design and demonstration, ancient building seismic mechanism and other teaching, scientific research, related engineering technology development and application work.

In the past five years, the studio has undertaken more than 10 national natural science funds, national science and technology support programs, more than 10 international cooperation funds from Japan, and more than 20 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, as well as more than 40 various engineering and technological research and development and application projects. The research results are widely used in the engineering constructions of modern timber structures, traditional ancient building repairs, renovation of traditional timber dwellings, landscape architecture and other projects in various regions of the country. The studio has participated in the construction of key projects or demonstration projects at the international, national level, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It has achieved a series of influential scientific and technological achievements and good economic and social benefits. The studio has won wide acclaim from the social and engineering circles, and has made positive contributions to the country's scientific and technological progress, high-level talent training and economic construction.

In the past five years, the studio has obtained more than 10 provincial and ministerial appraisal and acceptance results, and 8 provincial and ministerial-level technology and teaching achievement awards and also has authorized 40 patents, 9 invention patents, 1 international invention patent. The studio has published more than 400 academic papers, of which more than 150 were indexed by SCI and EI, 6 main and edited books, 2 original English books "Wood in Civil Engineering", "Sustainable Construction and Building Materials", and has trained more than 20 graduate students. The studio hosted or participated in the formulation of six timber structure standards, including "Standard for design of timber structures" (GB 50005-2017), "Technical standard for prefabricated timber buildings" (GB/T 51233-2016), and "Technical standard for multi-story and high rise timber buildings" (GB/T 51226-2017), "Cross laminated timber" and other important standards.

The studio has established long-term and good cooperative relationships with well-known research institutes such as American APA-The Engineered Wood Association, Japan Wood-Products Export Association, University of British Columbia, University of New Brunswick, Bath University, The University of Sheffield, University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Hiroshima University, University of Bern, etc. and has jointly carried out academic exchanges, joint application of scientific research projects and joint training of student talents.

The studio welcomes interested young people in structural engineering, materials science and engineering, architecture, mechanics and other related disciplines to apply for the exam.
