The Hu Group focuses on catalytic bond activation and formation, radical-mediated green transformations, and the design of efficient homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts for sustainable chemistry. Current interests include mechanistic studies, photothermal radical processes, and small-molecule activation for clean energy applications.
Peng Hu Sun Yat-Sen University
Professor Hu Peng is a faculty member and PhD supervisor at the School of Chemistry, Sun Yat-sen University. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Hubei University and completed his PhD in 2011 at the Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, under the supervision of Professor Wei-Ping Su. Afterward, Professor Hu pursued postdoctoral research in the groups of Professor David Milstein at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel and Professor Thorsten Bach at the Technical University of Munich, supported by the prestigious Humboldt Fellowship. In 2017, he joined Sun Yat-sen University, where he established his independent research group. Professor Hu's research interests focus on radical-mediated transformations of inert bonds and the development of sustainable catalysis using earth-abundant metals. His work aims to bridge the gap between fundamental organic chemistry and practical applications in green chemistry and catalysis.
