Pengfei Cao Professor at Beijing University of Chemical Technology
Professor Cao is a full professor in School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT). Recipient of the National Young Talents Program; Holding multiple leadership roles including Deputy Director of the College Affairs Committee, Deputy Director of a Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, Member of the College Degree Committee, and Member of the College Talent Recruitment Leadership Group. He serves the associate editor of RSC Applied Polymers and Supramolecular Materials, Editorial Board of Macromolecules, MRS Communications and Scientific Reports. He has been a staff scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) before joining BUCT. Primary research focuses on design, synthesis, performance analysis, and energy applications of functional elastic polymers, specifically: 1) Recyclable (or Upcycling), Self-healable and Adhesive Elastomers; 2) Solid Polymer Electrolyte, Polymer Binder and Protective Layer for Li Batteries; 3) Sealants and 3D Printing etc. Prof. Cao has published over 120 journal publications with more than 80 papers as the corresponding/1st author at international mainstream journal, including CCS Chem. 、 Nat. Commun.、 Matter、Adv. Mater.、 Angew. Chem.、 Macromolecules; 3 book chapters and 9 authorized international patents. In the past 5 years, he led 20 research projects and secured 8 projects/sub-projects since joining BUCT (funded by NSFC, ministries, and corporations); Self-healing elastomeric sealant project won the 2021 R&D 100 Award ("Oscars of Innovation"). Prof. Cao has also been awarded ACS-PMSE Young-Investigator Award of 2021, the ACS-Rising Star in Materials Science of 2023 and ACS Materials Au 2023 Rising Stars in Materials Science.
