My research team studies genes that can be used for molecular genetic improvement in forest trees. By elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying branch formation, flowering transition, floral sex differentiation, and lipid biosynthesis and accumulation, we can use transgenics and gene editing to improve abiotic and biotic stress tolerance as well as yield and quality in Eucalyptus and woody oilseed plants, including Jatropha curcas, Plukenetia volubilis, and macadamia.
