Cheryl Yeap has an extensive experience in transcriptomic, toxicology, mitochondrial signaling, and microbial systems. She investigated the early toxicity response of microorganisms exposed to reactive iron nanoparticles and how cells immediately direct cell repair within one hour. Her current research is focused to understand how cells respond to different mechanical-forces (surface rigidity, roughness, viscosity), specifically investigating the interaction between endothelial cell-macrophage and their extracellular matrix remodeling due to the dynamic wrinkling response of cell adhesion complexes, with aims to ultimately translate her understanding of cell mechanobiology into disease therapeutics.
