The synthesis of PVA hydrogels (PVA-Hy) requires a high-concentration alkali solution (e.g., sodium hydroxide, NaOH, 14% w/w, 4.2 M), and the rapid physical crosslinking of PVA makes it challenging to ensure layer-to-layer adhesion for 3D printing. This work demonstrated the three-dimensional (3D) printing of PVA hydrogels in benign conditions (NaOH, 1% w/w, 0.3 M) using a two-phase system (ATPS).
