1983年获西北工业大学学士学位；1987年获日本群马大学硕士学位；1990年获日本九州大学博士学位。1990年～1992年三菱油化（现三菱化学）筑波综合研究所博士后研究员；1992年～1993年同研究所研究员；1993年～1995年东京农工大学客座研究员；1995年～1996年卡西欧计算机株式会社研究员；1996年～1997年株式会社TESAC主席研究员；1997年～1998年科学技术振新事业团研究员；1998年～2001年九州大学副教授；2001年至今北京大学教授，博导；2002年获国家杰出青年科学基金。2011年受聘973国家重大科学研究计划首席科学家
