Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

The natural gas from most fields contains undesirable acidic impurities (hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide). The removal of these impurities is traditionally carried out by absorption purification with various scavengers and most often alkanolamines. The main factor affecting the choice of absorbent is the component composition of the natural gas (the content of acidic components and their proportions). This work presents the results from modeling of the natural gas purification plant with the aim of selecting the absorbent and the optimum technological parameters of the process. The purification of natural gas with equal proportions of acidic components and various absorbents (monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, methyldiethanolamine, and diethanolamine + methyldiethanolamine) was investigated. The technological parameters of the process using an effective absorbent are presented on the basis of the obtained results. The effect of the main technological parameters on the energy consumption resources in the regeneration of the selected absorbent was studied.
