Energy Spectrum of 3D Velocity Field Generated by Ensemble of Semi-fractal Vortex Loops

Journal of Engineering Thermophysics Aims and scope

Abstract

The energy spectra E(k) of a three-dimensional velocity field induced by a set of vortex loops of different sizes and semi-fractal structure is calculated. The method is closely related to the Gaussian model of vortex tangle. To calculate the energy spectra E(k) we use the characteristic (generating) functional. We demonstrate that this spectrum as function of k has three characteristic regions, associated with the semi-fractal nature of the loops.
