The article considers the production and consumption of helium in a global context. A method of the helium extraction from the natural gas is analyzed and estimated. Challenges facing the Russian helium industry in the Eastern Siberia are identified and discussed. Options for the long-term storage of helium are proposed. The problem of the helium transportation in Russia and ways of its solution are considered.
