Abstract

The results of studying the effect produced by the partial substitution of Sr2+ ions by Ba2+ ions on the thermophysical and magnetocaloric properties of La0.7Sr0.3 – xBaxMnO3 manganite (x = 0; 0.02; 0.05, and 0.10) within a temperature range of 100–400 K in a magnetic field of up to 1.8 T are submitted. It has been shown that such substitution leads to an essential decrease in TС. In the behavior of the thermal diffusivity η(Т) and thermal conductivity κ(Т) near TС, there occur the minima associated with the scattering of photons on both local crystal lattice distortions and spin fluctuations. Absolute thermal conductivity values descend with an increase in the disorder parameter. The magnetocaloric effect exhibits a weak dependence on the substitution level (x).
