Abstract

A method is proposed for determining the technological value of coal concentrates on the basis of industrial coking data. The technological value serves as a numerical score characterizing the influence of a concentrate from a specific supplier on coke quality (that is, the cold strength M25 and M10, the hot strength CSR, and the reactivity CRI), taking account of the petrographic uniformity of the coal (σR). On the basis of serial coking, a close correlation is found between the technological value for the suppliers and \({{\sigma }_{{{{R}_{{{\text{co}}}}}}}}\). If the technological value is estimated from the coke strength and degree of petrographic uniformity, the concentrate suppliers may be divided into functional groups on that basis: when TV < 0.7, the concentrate is regarded as filler; when TV ≥ 1, the component is regarded as contributing to the coke quality.
