Abstract—The theoretical basis of geoecology was developed based on the concept of the environmental functions of the abiotic spheres of the Earth. In this article, the ideas about the content of the term “geoecological space,” as well as the types, scientific content, applied problems, and the types of systems studied in geoecology, are characterized. The types and groups of indicators used to assess geoecological conditions are distinguished.
