On behalf of the members of the Board, it is my great pleasure to present selected abstracts presented at the 48th annual meeting of our society. The meeting to be held in Lausanne, Switzerland, holds great promises.

First, we have been longing for live encounters, and the congress is a great opportunity to find back some of the most important aspects of our profession: learning, teaching, chatting…face to face!

Second, Eliane Roulet Perez and the local organization committee built a high-level program. According to one of our Society's pillars, two main scientific themes will be treated this year:

  1. Language difficulties in exceptional circumstances (acquired lesions of the central nervous system, epilepsy surgery, and the epilepsy–aphasia spectrum).

  2. Paroxysmal episodes in young children (epilepsy and movement disorders, the contribution of EEG to the diagnosis, and the differential diagnosis of dyskinesia, tics, and stereotypies).

World experts will hold plenary conferences, and additional speakers will give oral communications on the same topics. This conference format will allow our attendees to receive an updated overview on these important themes. Case discussions, oral communications, and poster sessions on other various pediatric neurology topics, are planned, too.

The Local organization Committee and the Board of the Society selected some of the most illustrative abstracts submitted. We would like to thank all speakers for their hard work, the sponsors of the meeting for their support, and the editorial board of Neuropediatrics who allowed the publication of these abstracts in their esteemed Journal!
