Dear Readers of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Innovation:

Hello Pharmaceutical Colleagues. It is hard to believe we have navigated winter (almost) and are looking towards Spring (at least here in the Northeast United States). It is also hard to believe it has been two full years since the entire world locked down in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Indicators suggest that with the waning of the Omicron variant that the pandemic may be finally ending. Indeed, several US states have downgraded the status to an “endemic” meaning that it is local and not “passport carried”. Let’s hope that the positive news being received about the COVID-19 situation continues. Here in the state of New Jersey, our governor has lifted the mask mandate for schools and in New York City, the indoor dining mandate has also been lifted. Hallelujah!

Plans are being made for more in-person and on-site visits in the coming weeks and months. From my own personal perspective, I am attending the Pharma World Manufacturing Summit in Boston the last week of March and am delivering a presentation to PharmD students at Duquesne University School of Pharmacy the first week of April. Wow! Does it feel good to relate to folks in real life again. I read an article recently that states that most of us have not totally grasped the effects of being isolated on our psyche until we are thrust back into the mainstream world. I can personally vouch for this. Life is assuredly different, but it feels great.

The downstream effect of the pandemic lockdown has continued to fuel the influx of contributed manuscripts to the Journal of Pharmaceutical Innovation. Over the past 2 years, I have been amazed and impressed at the quantity of new ideas that are proposed to be first presented in our journal. Consider our latest issue…there are an abundance of articles that either directly address or touch on the concept of modeling and simulation for the development of dosage forms and processes that incorporate design of experiment procedures. There are papers that describe new approaches for formulation and enhanced bioavailability due to such strategies as the utilization of inclusion of active drug molecules into cyclodextrins as well as nanoparticulate delivery and solubility enhancement utilizing polymers,

I am gratified by the steady stream of submitted manuscripts to the Journal of Pharmaceutical Innovation, which says to me that our readers are hoping to have their work published in our journal. Myself and my editorial team will continue to seek to publish the best manuscripts that fit the mission of this journal and rush them through to publication.

I have stated this before; however, if you have ideas, please write to me at sscypinskli@comcast.net Until our next issue, continue to stay safe and well.
