Abstract

Knoevenagel condensation of betulonic aldehyde with malononitrile afforded 2-[3-oxolup-20(29)-ene-28-ylidene]malononitrile and product of partial hydrolysis of the dinitrile moiety, 2-cyano-3-[3-oxo-28-norlup-20(29)-en-17-yl]prop-2-enamide whose structure was determined by NMR spectroscopy using two-dimensional correlation techniques.
