The α-Andromedid Fireball Stream and Meteorite-Producing Fireball over Slovakia

Abstract

Based on the relationship between the meteorite-producing fireball EN 041096 Kremnica (Spurný and Borovicka, 1997) and the α-Andromedid fireball stream (no. 55) (Terentjeva, 1990), a meteorite-producing fireball stream of the α-Andromedids was established. This stream adds to the list of meteorite streams we found earlier. To date, this list consists of 14 meteorite-producing streams. Since meteorite-producing streams can contain large meteoroid bodies, encountering them may not be safe for the Earth. Therefore, the problem of these potentially dangerous streams should be at the center of attention of meteor researchers and be an integral part of the general problem of space threats.
