Synthesis, single crystal characterization and anti-AD activities of a novel complex of Cu(II) with in situ formed protonated chrysin derivative ligand
2023, Journal of Inorganic BiochemistryCitation Excerpt :Considering that the complex pathology and the possible interconnections between such numerous intervening factors in AD, we focus our project on the design of specific metal chelator to restore metal homeostasis with additional properties that can act on separate targets by a unit molecule. The potential synergistic effect between flavonoids and metal ions as well as the possibility to improve the bioavailability have prompted us to synthesize a series of flavonoid derivatives and their metal complexes [26–29]. And the results showed that tertiary amine group, depending on the pKa values, may improve acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity in varying degrees.

2022, TrAC - Trends in Analytical ChemistryCurcumin, Naringenin and Resveratrol from Natural Plant Products Hold Promising Solutions for Modern World Diseases – A Recent Review
2022, South African Journal of BotanyCitation Excerpt :Ellman's assay on AChE (from electric eel) and BuChE (from equine serum) was used to determine the cholinesterase inhibitory activities of naringenin derivatives but with some modifications. Naringenin derivatives were designed and synthesized as multifunctional anti-AD agents and the results revealed that naringenin derivatives was the most appropriate multifunction agent (Wu et al., 2021). The use of a prophylactic combination of nanosize form naringenin (NG) and vitamin E to reduce behavioural and memory disruption caused by oxidants like nicotine.
Novel coumarin derivatives as multifunctional anti-AD agents: Design, synthesis, X-ray crystal structure and biological evaluation
2022, Journal of Molecular StructureCitation Excerpt :The discovery and extraction of natural active ingredients from traditional Chinese medicines, and the further structural modification of them to develop new pharmacological activities, especially the metal chelating ability, is an effective strategy to develop novel anti-AD agents. In the previous research of our group, the multi-target anti-AD agents such as anthraquinones, flavonoids and xanthone derivatives were studied [18,20,24–27]. Coumarin (2H-1-benzopyran-2-one) is a natural active ingredient which presents in a variety of traditional Chinese medicines, such as Angelica, Cnidium, Psoralea, etc.
