The parameters of the porous structure of the reaction-bonded silicon nitride are estimated, as functions of the content of the pore-forming agent, on the basis of the author’s methods and structural model of monodisperse systems in combination with percolation theory. On evaluation of the thermal conductivity of ceramics it was found that the analytical and experimental results for silicon nitride without a pore-former are in satisfactory agreement with one another and for samples with a pore-former there is a several-fold difference. It is hypothesized that a sharp reduction of the thermal conductivity on introduction of a pore-former is an effect of the separation of silicon particles by the larger particles of the pore-former.
