Abstract

Regularities of generation of a plane field are obtained versus size of working area and number of testing fields. It is shown that a minimum number of elements in equidistant ring antenna arrays that make it possible to generate a plane field in the working area can be determined for the given size of the working area.

Notes

  1. “Simple” with respect to practical implementation and required hardware and materials.

  2. A circular working area provides the best matching with the shape of the object when the direction of sounding is changed.

  3. Note that virtual generation of the plane reception field is needed for estimation of the RCS of an object [2]. Such a procedure is similar to the algorithm for generation of the irradiation field and, therefore, is not considered in this work.

  4. The absence of the field is interpreted as a significant decrease in the amplitude.

  5. The fields must be formed for the cosine and sine components, so that the number is two times greater than m.
