Abstract
A method is outlined for determining the actual contact area in mutual abrasive lapping of plane surfaces. By this method, the actual contact area of the surfaces may be determined more accurately, in less time. To decrease the total duration of mutual lapping, the force clamping the parts together varies in the course of lapping. The shorter machining time increases the efficiency by a factor of 2.5–3.
