Abstract
Fulfillment of the application sequence of smelting aids (increase in the blast rate, an increase in top gas pressure, and oxygen enrichment) is one of essential factors of blast-furnace smelting and performance indicators of furnaces. The use of smelting aids should be consistent with the change of full mechanical energies of blasting and hearth gas fluxes, whereas avoiding the decrease in blasting consumption and full mechanical energies of blasting and hearth gas rather than the change of the kinetic energy of blasting should be considered during the tuyere diameter choice. The optimal total tuyere section on furnace should also correspond to the increase in the blast-furnace enrichment rather than a decrease in the blast consumption. The route towards intensification of blast-furnace smelting through the increase in the oxygen concentration in blasting without improving the quality of iron ore raw material and coke is ineffective.
