Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics Aims and scope

Abstract

A detailed study is performed of the spatial features of two very intense substorms (supersubstorms) during the magnetic storm of March 9, 2012, using global geomagnetic data from the SuperMAG and INTERMAGNET planetary networks and the Scandinavian IMAGE profile. Supersubstorms develop on a global scale in longitude, from before midnight, through the night and morning, and into the day sector.
