Estimating the Size and Location of the Region of Scattering of the Auroral Hiss, According to Data from High-Latitude Observations at Three Separated Places

Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics Aims and scope

Abstract

Results are presented from analyzing simultaneous observations of very low frequency bursts of the auroral hiss at separated places: Barentsburg (Spitsbergen Archipelago), Lovozero (Kola Peninsula, Russia), and Kannuslehto (Finland). The observations are compared to results from modeling the propagation of the auroral hiss from the region of generation to the ground and in Earth–ionosphere waveguide.
