Comparative Analysis of Fish Distribution in Lentic and Lotic Ecosystems (Review)

Inland Water Biology Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

Fish distribution in bodies of water is determined by a complex of abiotic and biotic environmental factors, most of which universally affect the distribution of fish, both in lentic and lotic ecosystems. At the same time, only some external factors, primarily the current and, in some cases, the temperature, are specific to particular types of water bodies. Fish distribution is a dynamic process; its daily and seasonal cycles are observed everywhere.
