Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The influence of the machining conditions and the machining fluid on the burnishing of holes is considered. Applying Epilam coatings to the tool prevents loss of the machining fluid from the machining zone, with decrease in load and strain by half; the heat transfer in the machining zone also decreases, lowering the temperature by as much as 40°C. In hole burnishing, Epilam coatings more than triple the tool’s wear resistance.
