A Civic Republican Perspective on Market De-encapsulation

Abstract

Amitai Etzioni argues that capitalism has run amock, with serious and detrimental consequences for social health and welfare. This reply offers a civic republican perspective on these issues, and argues that while the critique may be sound, the response must be tailored to the current socio-economic context.
