Abstract
The current article deals with the antecedents that generate a phenomenon of a mismatch between an academic graduates' field of education and their occupational field (horizontal mismatch). The two examined antecedents were the individuals' career history and their "career identity" level. It has been found that (a) the more expansive the individual's layoff history, the greater their horizontal mismatch level, and (b) the higher the individual's career identity level, the lower their horizontal mismatch level. This emphasizes the importance for academic individuals regarding investing in specific competencies, skills, and abilities throughout their career, to aid in career success.
Résumé
Historique des expériences professionnelles et identité professionnelle: Antécédents de sous-emploi dans le domaine professionnel Le présent article traite des antécédents qui génèrent un phénomène d'inadéquation entre le domaine d'études d'un·e diplômé·e universitaire et son domaine professionnel (inadéquation horizontale). Les deux antécédents examinés sont l'historique des expériences professionnelles des individus et leur niveau d'"identité professionnelle". Il a été constaté que (a) plus les antécédents de licenciement de l'individu sont étendus, plus son niveau d'inadéquation horizontale est élevé, et (b) plus le niveau d'identité professionnelle de l'individu est élevé, plus son niveau d'inadéquation horizontale est faible. Cela souligne l'importance pour les universitaires d'investir dans des compétences, des aptitudes et des capacités spécifiques tout au long de leur carrière, afin de contribuer à leur réussite professionnelle.
Zusammenfassung
Karriereverlauf und Karriereidentität: Voraussetzungen der Berufsfeldunterbeschäftigung Der vorliegende Artikel befasst sich mit den Voraussetzungen, die das Phänomen einer Diskrepanz zwischen dem Ausbildungsbereich eines Akademikers und seinem Berufsfeld (horizontale Diskrepanz) hervorrufen. Die beiden untersuchten Voraussetzungen waren der berufliche Werdegang der Individuen und ihr "Karriere-Identitäts"-Niveau. Es wurde festgestellt, dass (a) die horizontale Diskrepanz umso größer ist, je länger die Arbeitslosigkeit des Individuums dauert, und (b) die horizontale Diskrepanz umso geringer ist, je höher das Niveau der beruflichen Identität des Individuums ist. Dies unterstreicht, wie wichtig es für akademische Individuen ist, während ihrer gesamten Karriere in spezifische Kompetenzen, Fähigkeiten und Fertigkeiten zu investieren, um den beruflichen Erfolg zu unterstützen.
Resumen
Trayectoria laboral e identidad profesional: antecedentes del subempleo en el campo laboral profesional El presente artículo aborda los antecedentes que generan un fenómeno de desajuste entre el campo de formación de un egresado académico y su campo ocupacional (desajuste horizontal). Los dos antecedentes examinados fueron la trayectoria laboral de los individuos y su nivel de "identidad profesional". Se ha encontrado que (a) cuanto más amplio es el historial de despidos del individuo, mayor es su nivel de desajuste horizontal, y (b) cuanto más alto es el nivel de identidad profesional del individuo, menor es su nivel de desajuste horizontal. Este resultado pone en evidencia la importancia que tiene, durante la vida académica, la formación en competencias, habilidades y habilidades específicas a lo largo de su carrera, para ayudar en el éxito profesional.
