Sliding of a Narrow Rectangular Plate across a Horizontal Plane with Asymmetric Orthotropic Friction under Uniform Pressure Distribution

Abstract

The effect of asymmetric orthotropic friction exerted on a solid body bearing up against a narrow rectangular area and sliding across a plane is studied. As an example, the motion of a uniform rod across a plane with asymmetric orthotropic friction is considered. The obtained results could find wide practical applications in the development of algorithms for the processing of material contacting which causes anisotropic friction forces to occur.
