Abstract:
The tension between what is ‘auctorysed’ and what ‘som men say’ offers a glimpse into Malory’s sense of his authorship and reminds us that texts are places of interpretive activity. In addition, I reconsider William Caxton’s role as editor and problematize the role of authorial intention as the basis for the Field edition of 2013.
