Mirac Onur Bozkurt graduated from Middle East Technical University with high honor bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering (double major) in 2016. He earned an M.Sc. degree in Aerospace Engineering from METU in 2019 with a thesis on the analysis of impact damage in layered composite structures. In 2019, he joined the METU Center for Wind Energy as a Scientific Project Expert. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student in Aeronautics at Imperial College London. He conducts research mainly on experimental and numerical aspects of failure in composite structures and multiscale modelling of heterogeneous materials.
Dr. Demirkan Coker is Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU-Ankara) and Deputy Head of RUZGEM-METU Center for Wind Energy Research. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Caltech in 2001, on intersonic crack growth in composite materials with Ares J. Rosakis (with a minor in Geophysics) and carried out Post-Doctoral studies at Brown University on dynamic friction with Alan Needleman. Before his Ph.D., he worked at UDRI-Structural Integrity Division on-site at the Materials Lab, Wright Laboratories, WPAFB during which time he obtained his M.Sc. degrees in Aerospace Engineering from University of Dayton and Applied Mathematics from Wright State University. Dr. Coker obtained his B.Sc. from Aerospace Engineering at METU, Ankara.
