Abstract

The paper studies the propagation of low-frequency harmonic pressure waves in a fracture formed by hydraulic fracturing and perpendicular to the wellbore in a porous and permeable medium. The influence of reservoir characteristics and fracture (e.g., permeability, fracture width) has been analyzed. It was found that when waves propagate from a wellbore along radial fractures, the characteristic penetration distances of pressure perturbations can be significantly higher than the penetration depth of perturbations from an open well in bedding with no fracture.
