Abstract

The magnetic properties of a GdBaCo1.86O5.32 single crystal are studied in the temperature range T = 2–650 K and magnetic fields up to 50 kOe. The GdBaCo1.86O5.32 single crystal is shown to be a ferrimagnet, where ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic sublattices are present, over a wide temperature range. The ratio of these sublattices and the spin directions in them depend on external conditions (T, H). The GdBaCo1.86O5.32 single crystal exhibits the properties of mictomagnetism at low temperatures in strong magnetic fields. The experimental data are used to plot a magnetic state diagram as a function of temperature for the cobalt-deficient GdBaCo1.86O5.32 single crystal.
