The capture of barcheek goby Rhinogobius similis in Lake Khasan is reported. The lake is located in the southwest of Primorskii krai (42°26′57″ N; 130°36′31″ E). A brief morphological description is given. A fragment of the mitochondrial COI gene was sequenced and compared with haplotypes from other parts of the species range.

Notes

  1. Unitl recent revision (Suzuki et al., 2016), this species was known as R. giurinus.

  2. In the last century, only two species of gobies were found here: G. urotaenia and G. taranetzi (Taranets, 1936).

  3. In this paper is given under the name R. giurinus.
