Abstract

A modification of the well-known wide-range equations of state of Nigmatulin–Bolotnova is proposed for describing the high-speed adiabatic-compression of vapor of tetradecane in the metastable region in physically consistent way. The modification is based on taking into account the effect of delay of vapor condensation processes under high compression rate. It is useful for studying various phenomena associated with high-speed compression of vapor of tetradecane when the compression is close to adiabatic. It can, in particular, be applied to investigating high-speed collapse of cavitation bubbles in tetradecane. The technique of the proposed modification can also be used for a similar correction of other equations of state built on the basis of the generalized Born–Mayer potential.
