Abstract—

The characteristics of the mollusk assemblages in the Cenozoic key section at Kvachina Bay in West Kamchatka are given. Sixteen stratigraphically successive beds with mollusks, which are grouped in five horizons, are recognized in the sedimentary sequence with a total thickness of approximately 450 m. The biostratigraphic units are correlated with the regional horizons, and their age is determined in the interval of Middle Eocene–Middle Miocene. A number of specific features of the paleogeographic settings and climatic conditions are recognized.
