Influence of the Properties of Surface Polyoxide Structures on Wear Processes in Solid Bodies

  • Published:
Inorganic Materials: Applied Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The influence of the acidity of oxide structures formed on the contact surfaces of hard-alloy cutting tools of the P cutting application group [1] on the wear resistance of the latter used to machine the materials that cause intense diffusive wear has been investigated. It has been established that the wear resistance of the cutting tools tends to increase with decreasing acidity of the surface oxide film formed on the contact surfaces of the cutting edge.
