Effect of Position and Content of a Basalt Filler on the Mechanical Characteristics of Composite Materials Based on an Ice Matrix

  • Published:
Inorganic Materials: Applied Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The effect of position of basalt filler layers on the bending strength and resistance to falling weight impact is investigated for ice-based composite materials (CMI). Zones of optimal reinforcement are revealed for laboratory CMI samples. The obtained bending strength values are five times higher than those for unreinforced ice.
