An Investigation of Gluing and Facing Plywood with a Microthin Veneer Using Powder Adhesive

Abstract

This paper proposes using a modified adhesive based on powder urea-formaldehyde polymer for gluing plywood and facing it with a microthin veneer. It was found that application of such adhesive eliminates the possibility of the adhesive seeping through the microthin veneer, while ensuring high bonding strength and the required decorative properties. The mathematical dependence of the effect of the main technological factors on the shear strength along the adhesive layer was obtained, which made it possible to recommend rational modes for gluing plywood and facing it with a microthin veneer.
